Well that’s 2018 done and dusted,

Not the best of endings to the season at the Sunflower Trophy races.

Having set the fastest time on Friday and qualifying in pole position for the races Saturday got off to a bad start when the bike developed a mechanical problem which we later diagnosed to be a faulty fuel pump. This meant I had to retire from the opening 600 race.

I gave the Sunflower race a go but the problem persisted so I had to drop out of this race too.

A huge thanks to Jack Waring who lent me a fuel pump to get me out in the last race.

I duffed the start and dropped back to ninth place which gave me a mountain to climb to make anything of the race.

I battled away and by half way through the race I managed to get myself onto the back of the leaders Richard Kerr and Robert Kennedy eventually getting in to second place behind Robert. A last lap attempt to take the lead going into the last corner didn’t quite come off and I had to settle for second.

The main aim of this year was to compete in the Thundersport GB Championship.

With a new bike and little or no track knowledge of the GB circuits it was never going to be easy. After a few rounds we started to understand the bike and things began to move in the right direction, results improved and I managed a couple of wins and top three finishes.

The climax of the year was competing in the BSB races at Brands Hatch. I didn’t get the best of results. I was in a points scoring position in the Sunday race but slid off in the horrendous conditions, still a great experience which I hope to have more of next year.

As I said my main aim of this year was to compete in GB so to back that up with the Ulster Supersport Championship was a huge bonus.

Roll on 2019!

Motor bike racing is not an easy sport to compete in at any level and none of my success this year would have been possible with out help from all my great sponsors helpers and supporters so huge thanks to everyone who helped small or big !!!
